How We Mine It
Nephrite is recovered from select metamorphic formations across Gilgit-Baltistan, often extracted as boulders or vein deposits requiring careful, targeted removal to avoid damaging the stone’s structure. This is a slower, more selective process than typical industrial stone quarrying.
Once extracted, nephrite is hand-sorted and evaluated for color and clarity before being prepared for the ornamental carving and lapidary trade, where material quality directly determines value.
