How We Mine It
Aquamarine is extracted from the pegmatite formations found across Hunza, Nagar, Shigar, and several other valleys, using targeted vein mining suited to the crystal structure of beryl deposits. These pegmatite bodies often require careful excavation to preserve larger, gem-quality crystals intact.
Once removed, aquamarine crystals are hand-sorted for clarity and color before being graded for the international gem market — with the clearest, most saturated blue-green material commanding the highest value.
