How We Mine It
Sapphire is extracted alongside ruby from Gilgit-Baltistan’s corundum-bearing formations, using similar small-scale vein mining and tunneling methods suited to the region’s mountainous terrain. Site selection depends heavily on prior geological survey work identifying corundum-rich zones.
After extraction, sapphires are hand-sorted by color and clarity, with rough stones graded before being prepared for cutting and export to the international jewelry trade.
We also emphasize responsible resource management, focusing on reducing waste, improving recovery rates, and ensuring safe handling of materials throughout the processing chain.
